Why Accessible Dog Training
I believe that all dogs and their human families should have access to highly skilled dog trainers who use science-based methods and train with kindness and empathy.
Training Approach
I use science-based dog training methods that are kind, ethical, and humane. I use empathy and kindness to build relationships with dogs and their human families. I use positive reinforcement strategies to build confidence and foster a trusting relationship. I recognize that every dog has a different pace of learning. I adapt my training to the dog's pace.
Julie's Bio
I have always loved dogs, growing up with a sheltie and a beagle. In 2023, a veterinarian friend suggested that I use my love of dogs to help her husband, who happens to be a dog trainer. I helped with several classes. And I decided it was time to adopt a dog. I adopted a two-year-old rescue named Orson.
I worked with four dog trainers to help me train Orson. Why so many? They had different specialties. I loved training Orson; it was such a great way to bond. I was also inspired by the four excellent trainers I worked with. One of the trainers said that I should become a dog trainer. I think she was joking, but it was the nudge I needed.
In 2025, I applied for and was accepted into the prestigious The Academy for Dog Trainers. I am learning the science of dog training and how to transfer that to training dogs and their human families.
I am currently training dogs (for free) who need to learn basic behaviors, including sit, down, stand, stay, come/recall, loose-leash walking, and leave it. If you have a dog that needs to learn these behaviors, please complete the form above.
Outside of dog training, I am a social science researcher and educator (of humans). I also spend time training Orson, gardening, reading, and hanging out with family.
